Painting is, for me, about finding those moments that slow us down or stop us in our tracks. It seems to me that painting has the unique ability to hold a moment of wonder, uncertainty and confusion; to stretch it, or even to solidify it, allowing it to linger.
Through my paintings, I want to invite the viewer into that space where something happens through the act of looking itself. It is the moment before we reach for words, before we explain or recognise what we are seeing. In that space there is intuition, feeling, possibility and connection. Painting seems able to hold open an experience before it is reduced to what we already know.
